It is with heavy hearts that Dawson Group shares the passing of two of our own, Anthony Flynn and Billy Gunanoot, who died in a motor vehicle accident on October 1, 2026. Out of respect for their loved ones, we chose to wait before sharing our own words, giving them the time and space to grieve and to hold the ceremonies honouring Anthony and Billy.

Anthony and Billy were part of our Dawson family, working side by side on our road maintenance crew in Carnaby. They were coworkers, friends, and family, and their absence is felt each day by those who knew them. We are thinking of their families, near and far, and of everyone in our communities who is grieving.

Anthony Flynn, happiest outdoors and always the first to offer a hand.

Anthony joined us as an operator in the spring of 2025 and quickly became someone his crew could count on. As our flagging coordinator, he took care of those around him and was always the first to offer a hand. His connection to Dawson ran deeper still, as his father, Donny, is also part of our team. Away from the job, Anthony loved the outdoors and was happiest exploring on four wheels. Our hearts are with Donny, the Flynn family, and all of Anthony’s friends.

Billy Gunanoot, devoted father and proud member of Gitanmaax.

Billy came to Dawson Road Maintenance in 2024 as a labourer and flagger. He was valued by his crew and built strong connections with everyone he met. Billy was a devoted father to his children and a proud member of Gitanmaax. Beyond the job, he served as a volunteer firefighter, answering the call whenever his community needed him, and he cherished time on the land. Our hearts are with his children, those closest to him, and his community.

There are no words that can ease a loss like this. Our road maintenance crews are on the highways every day, watching out for each other and for the people they serve, and this loss has been felt deeply by all. To our teams in Carnaby and across our operations, please lean on one another and know that you do not have to carry this alone.

We hope that, in time, memories of Anthony and Billy, and the many lives they touched, will bring comfort to all who loved them.

To everyone who has reached out with kindness and support for our teams and families, thank you.

With heartfelt gratitude and respect,

Dawson Group
